SCHOLARSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT
The Coronado Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) is pleased to
announce the 2009-2010 Scholarship Program
A number of $1,000 Scholarships will be awarded during the 2009-2010 school year to eligible
graduating seniors.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
- The applicant must be a 2010 Graduating Senior from one of the following high schools:
Benson, Bisbee, Bowie, Buena, Douglas, Patagonia, San Simon, St. David, Tombstone, Valley Union, Wilcox, a
certified Charter High School or a certified Home School Program in the geographic area covered by the
above high schools.
- The applicant’s parent, grandparent, or legal guardian must be active duty military,
retired military, and active reservist in drill status, or National Guard Member.
- The applicant must have an overall academic Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher on
a 4.0 scale.
- The applicant must enroll in a community college, a college, a university, or service
academy.
CRITERIA FOR SELECTION:
- Scholastic Standing in high school.
- Involvement and leadership in school and/or community activities.
- Timely submission of a properly completed application.

- Applications must be received no later than 15 March 2010.
- Applications must be personally given to the POC, or mailed to: Coronado Chapter,
MOAA, ATTN: Scholarship Chairman, PO Box 1685, Sierra Vista, AZ 85636. To arrive no later than 15
March 2010.
- Favorable endorsement by the high school principal.
- Candidates are encouraged to submit additional letters of recommendation from
counselors, teachers, coaches, and supervisors.

INSTRUCTIONS: The following items are required to be submitted with this
application.
- Attach a brief summary/resume (not more than one page).

- Indicate your involvement is school and community activities.
- List your significant accomplishments.
- Explain your future plans and goals.
- A copy of your high school transcript showing class rank and GPA.
- A copy of your Parent, Grandparent, or Legal Guardian’s current or retired
military Identification Card. The Social Security Number
should be obliterated.
- At least one letter of recommendation from a teacher, coach, supervisor, or
counselor.
- A letter of endorsement/recommendation from your High School
Principal.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
- Applications must be received no later that 15 March 2010 (this is absolutely a firm suspense date). Applications must be personally given to the POC, or mailed to:
Coronado Chapter MOAA, ATTN: Scholarship Chairman, PO Box 1685, Sierra Vista, AZ 85636.
- If you are selected as a finalist, you will be expected to appear for an interview
by the MOAA Scholarship Selection Committee, during the end of March or the beginning of April
2010 (specific date, time and place to be
announced).
- Only correctly completed applications and those meeting the criteria specified in
the MOAA Scholarship Announcement will be considered.
- Final awards will be presented a the MOAA dinner on 15 April 2010.. Scholarship recipients and their parents will be invited to attend the
MOAA dinner, as guests of the Coronado Chapter.
